Shooting at Joyride 150 – Part Deux

Anton Urtan, a local rider, asked me to shoot with a friend of his at Joyride 150.  The rider was Matthew Macduff,  a talented young rider who rides for Dobermann bikes.  I also invited Brett Rheeder to shoot with us.  I contacted Mark Summers, one of Joyride’s owners, about the possibility of using the park off-hours for this shoot.  I wanted to bring a little bit more equipment and with a full park it can make it difficult to setup where I need to.  Mark was very accommodating and more than happy to oblige.  I met everyone at the park at 10:00 and we started shooting.

The first thing I wanted to get were a few portraits of the guys on the deck with the park behind them. I even managed to get one of Mark.

Once the portraits were done we headed over into Matthew’s playground, the park.

I was really impressed with Matthew’s attitude and riding style. He has good energy and I had a fun time shooting with him.  Thanks for giving it yer all Matt.  Next, I moved back to the jump section to shoot with Brett.

Once the park opened to the public, and the big lines were shot, I headed back over to the park section with my Sigma 50mm f 1.4 for some gritty lifestyle shots.

I then finished off the day with some shots of the guys who build all the fun stuff you get to ride.

I wanted to have a bigger blog post on this shoot but it’s been a long 12hrs and I’ll have to call it for today.  Anton will be conducting an interview with Matt so check back for links to that when it comes out.  Thanks to Anton, Matthew, Brett, Justin, Ty, Mark and all the staff at Joyride 150 for another great day of shooting.
